A bottle of wine should be a story. Winemaker Jason Parkes understands this, and as a sucker for stories, I was naturally drawn to his wine. While the wine itself is delicious, the masterpiece of this bottle might just be the label his 9 y/o daughter crafted. The bottle, Gobsmacked: Cyclops Love is personal for Jason. As a winemaker, you spend a lot of your time crafting someone else’s vision. Before wine, Jason was involved in music. A winemaker is much like a composer of music. This wine is his personal composition, his art, his craft, his story. This is what wine is all about.
Gobsmacked: Cyclops Love is a blend of Muscat, Muller Thurgau, and a splash of Gewürztraminer. It’s incomparable. Aromas of white flower and stone fruit – a bouquet that puts a smile on Jason’s face each and every time. The wine is dry, bone dry. Lime, apricot, finished with some nice salinity and light pepper notes makes this a wine that surprises you at each turn. The body is round and oily, balanced with a crisp acidity which makes it incredibly refreshing. A great summer sipper, Jason recommends pairing it with a hot dog at the beach with loved ones.
